I know I haven't been posting...

Well, I got some more games for my PS2, but I missed an incredible deal today by minutes [a 160 GB Maxtor Hard Drive for $40, I would use it for my PS2 :-( ]. Other than that, I am working on getting my neighbor's computer fixed (re-install everything from scratch, should be done by tommorow) and being "forced" to get my binder (communly refered by "the stack of papers") and my backpack organized.

BTW, bittorrenting is REALLY fun.... check out suprnova.org for some great files ready to be "bittorrented!"

Before my quote, some nice stats for my laptop:

Another post that should be posted yesterday...

Oh well, I let midnight past without posting again. Well, for the few who care, I bought my copy of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (great game!!!!), and I plan on getting the memory card tommorow so I can start playing on monday (when my PS2 arrives). Other than that, my cousin is still here. Nothing new.

Weather Underground: Bethesda, Maryland Forecast

Well, I decided to post a random link today (actually, my cousin was using the computer and this was the page she left it on :-P ). (I have 2 test tommorow, so I decided not to make up any content today :-)

Still bittorrenting.... more music to my collection!!

So, here is a quick quote:

More Music!

Tonight I am downloading another round of music. My collection is getting bigger by the day... (about 150 tracks added to my nice little NSLU2 ITunes server today, bringing the total up to 1158 ;-) I am expeting to add another 60 tommorow, and get some 2 or 3 CDs of MP3s on the weekend. Soon I will be over the 4GB mark!!!! (maybe I am already... I like to encode everything in at least 192 ;-)

Other than that, my friend Alexandre (check out his delicious feed here), which showed me delicious, a bunch of cool Linux apps, as well as other stuff, said to mention him (that brings the total reader to.... 2, maybe 3 :-) here. (I copy a lot of his delicous links to mine :-)

The music! Just got my "fresh" MP3 of the ITunes best-selling song "Numb / Encore" by Jay-Z and Linking Park. Really cool music...

This posts counts as two (actually, 3)

(Blogger didn't work yesterday, so I am posting yesterday's post with this included. Okay, so today I decided to download more stuff. I found out all the great stuff suprnova.org has and decided to download a gig or two overnight. Other than that, nothing new, other than MGS 3: Snake Eater (check out my del.icio.us feed for links) comes out this friday!!!! :-)

Well, I didn't post yesterday. Two simple reasons behind it: 1. I stayed up late getting my South Park Episodes in order (Suprnova.org is a GREAT place to download TV Shows) and 2. I turned off my computer when I realized I didn't post. BTW, nothing happened yesterday, so I would post a filler anyway.

So, here is what happened yesterday: I woke up at 9, as usual, ate my breakfast, as usual on weekends (yes, I don't eat breakfast on weekdays. Been doing that for the past 7 or 8 years of my life :-P ). Then I went to the 10th year aniversary of my Martial Arts school (watch the 2nd and 3rd degree black belts do some amazing stuff, like breaking 4 boards with a single kick). Lunch came. Adam came here and we played RTW: Enemy Territory, Quake 2 and some NFS Undeground all afternoon (we are planning on setting up a lan party with at least 16 people one soon). Soon after, I got bored and started playing with my South Park collection (I am downloading an average of 1 a day), and finally went to sleep on my bed. Oh, and I bought a PS2 online. Nothing amazing happened.... well, maybe tommorow.

Sunday (today), I woke up late, etc, and went to my brother's MSI final soccer game in hope of getting food at the after game party (it was the last game of the season). They won 3-0, but no party :-(. So we went to Ledo's Pizza, and got lost for a few minutes. While lost, we found a really cool Surplus Plus, one of those army stores with knifes, etc. I am getting my militaty artic coat there someday.... Then I came back home, watched some TV, and my cosin from Brazil came (she is in a diplomatic thing with the Supreme Tribunal Minister). Then I got bored and wrote this.

Sleepy....

I am tired today, specailly because I missed getting my brand-new PS2 (old model) by a few hours!! Why didn't I buy it 2 hours ago??? WHY???

Anyway, no music, here is a quote:
You don't become a failure until you're satisfied with being one.

Cool Charge

Today I found a really cool "charge" (a flash animation which is usually funny, but eventually serious) about Bush here.
For those of you who don't speak Portuguese, I will (try to) translate it:

Theories that help us understand Bush's re-election:
The way the people feel is very simple and elementary. The squeme of interpretation of the world has only two sides: positive and negative, good or evil.
The masses have a modest intelligence. The propaganda should be based on very few arguments, repeated as much as you can.
It is easier to envolve the people in a huge lie than in a small lie.
If the lie has extreme proportions, the people won't even think its possible to create such a profound "fake version, (maybe counterfeit?)" of the truth.
It is the duty of the leader to show that the enemies belong to a singel category: individualizing can cause doubts in the masses about the justice of your right (to harrasse, or do even worst with them).
Now, do you know who wrote those sentences? (Not me, I just translated them)

Adolf Hitler

Amazing, right? (Yes, I am one of the worst translators possible. :-( )
BTW, I been going to Charges.com.br since the very begining in 2000. Great website that always showed the opinion of the great majority of the Brazilian population (we usually don't split the countries opinions :-)

The quote: (well, can be thought about Bush and his re-election...)
Perhaps the biggest disappointments were the ones you expected anyway.

Kit's Website

Today I decided I will write about things most people are interested in. So I will point out some cool links....

First of all, Kit, my good friend, has two webistes. His first, http://kit.kitkorp.com/ is his blog (which he updates daily). The second one is http://www.scuzzstuff.tk/, which is a websited dedicated to games and flash animations.

Another cool one is my own set of links in Del.icio.us (my feed is on the side and here) Those are pretty much my bookmarks that I want people to see (I have lots of junk in my computer, like modding companies and who sells PS2s.) You can also create your own and spread your links for free!!

Again, I am not in the mood to write, so I will be quick: I decided to give up on my "old model" PS2 search. I will buy a new model this weekend, along with a memory card and controller. (Metal Gear is coming soon, I need to get it!)

Today I am ripping CDs (my new project: convert EVERY CD in my house to MP3 and get them all into my nice little NSLU2 ITunes server :-), so no music.

Fortune!!! Actually, a quote:
It's easier to fight for one's principles than to live up to them.

20041109

Filler!

A combination of things are happening: 1. I have a test tommorow, 2. I am tired and 3. I don't really have any actual content.

So I will be quick: I am encoding all of my CDs into MP3s, and Firefox 1.0 came out today. Make sure to upgrade!!

No music, quick quote:
Nothing is faster than the speed of light ...

To prove this to yourself, try opening the refrigerator door before the
light comes on.

20041108

Links!!

Well, I am still searching for a PS2... I am seriously considering buying a used one from GameStop or EBGames, or maybe even ebay. (The reason for this is that GTA: San Adreas came out and Metal Gear: Snake Eater and Grand Turismo 4 are comming out soon. (actually, GT 4 came out already:-) )

Other games in my list are Tony Hawk Underground 2 and Need for Speed Undeground 2, maybe even Final Fantasy and Resident Evil: Outbreak, as well as some basic online games, such as..... well, they are not important right now :-)

Other than that, today I have no music because I was watching the Metal Gear Trailers!!!!!

The quote..... ah, here is a cool one:
Matter will be damaged in direct proportion to its value.

Finished working on my NSLU2

Today I finally finished working on my NSLU2 (I was the 20th beta tester for the Unslug 2.x series, so now we get binaries!!! :-), so now I have a fully functional Linux server that has a nice 80GB hard drive, its noiseless and won't crash due to overheat!!!

I already got my mt-daapd (ITunes) server loaded with 733 songs (I am encoding every CD on the house + adding my downloaded 2.2 GB), a ssh server (remote access is fun!), and I am working on getting a FTP server and some more small things (bash, etc)

Ah, for those of you who care, I hang out at irc.nac.net #mtgjudge (yep, I am a Magic: The Gathering DCI Level 1 Certified Judge!), kitscuzz.hopto.org (port 21) #whitman (check out the web interface at Scuzz Chat!), and at irc.freenode.net #nslu2-linux (go nslu2 development team!!! :-)

Since I have school tommorow, I just finished my homework, so no music :-(

As usual, my random quote generator (fortune!) found this nice quote:
You know you are getting old when you think you should drive the speed limit.
-- E.A. Gilliam

Consider this yesterday's post

Well, I got to work on my NSLU2 unslug 2.x firware build (16 people are testing/developing it! I will be #17!!!!!!), and soon I lost track of time and it was after midnight. :-P

Today something decently interesting happened. I went to a DC United soccer game agaist the New England Revolution (they tied), and I must say that even 2nd division (the bad teams) from Brazil are better than the best here (Sorry, thats the truth, or maybe I am just biased....). They are not bad, they are just not as good....

Other than that, I got my second stripe in Tae Kwon Do today (Yes, I do TKD. I am currently a purple belt :-). That means I am exactly half way through Black Belt!!

No music (too late to listen to anything), but I do have a quote (as usual):
"We Americans, we're a simple people... but piss us off, and we'll bomb
your cities."
-- Robin Williams, _Good Morning Vietnam_

Yes, I am alive

No content for today (I am tired). I almost didn't post because blogger was giving me an error, but it ended up working.

Well, I am alive, I am just not in the mood to post. Wait, there is something cool I found out today:

In an NTFS Filesystem (used by Windoes 2k and XP), you can't rename any file "nul" or "col" (no quotation marks). Try it. It will just go back to the old name :-P.
Also, if you try to rename any file, if you put a "." in front of it, you will get an error message (try it!). I tried them both at school (XP SP1) and at home (XP SP2), and they are both true! People on the net reported them as true on win 2k (not sure which service pack). Comment if you get any resoults!

No music today, and here is your quote:
neutron bomb, n.:
An explosive device of limited military value because, as
it only destroys people without destroying property, it
must be used in conjunction with bombs that destroy property.

20041104

Boring day.....

Well, once again, nothing exiting or interesting happened today.
The only thing that makes today decently interesting is that Bush won, and about 75% of the world is mad about it (if not more). (I *hope* we all knew that).

Anyway, today I actually did something different. The stupid county forced me to got to the doctor because "they didn't have any medical records." Turns out that I spend about 45 min in the waiting room and 5 min with the doctor (he just signed a piece of paper, took my blood pressure, and left :-P)

Another cool thing (not interesting or exiting! :-) is that my friend kit decided to protest against Bush and the 52% of the stupid people who voted on him. He closed his website and put a nice message about Bush and some other controversial stuff. (check it here.)

Music.... tommorow I have a test, so no music today :-(

Lets see what my random quote generator comes up with today:
We are the people our parents warned us about.

20041103

A random link today.....

Well, today I decided to acutally post a link!!! So, today we will see:
Asterisk! Asterisk is a really cool Linux :D program that lets you use your network VoIP system to call the outside world!! My dad just set up a system so that people from other countries (inside theit VPN) can call anywhere in the DC Metro using this system without paying the international rate. Pretty cool, eh?

I finally finished my 2.6 GB Bittorrent download!!!! Its over! Now, the next step is to buy a PS2 and mod it..... :-P

Other than that, I am still working on my picture hosting system (I think I might use Flickr), and thats pretty much all thats going on..... I might tell you about my school day tommorow..... (lets see: how many people actually read it all without sleeping? Comment and you get a free random link!!!)

Today I am listening to a cool remix: Kung Fu Fighting (Dance Remix) by Fatboy Slim (nice beat!)

Now for the QUOTE!!!!!! (Some might argue that this is true.... whatever)
All my friends and I are crazy. That's the only thing that keeps us sane.

20041102

I hate titles

As usual, no actual content here. But my bittorrent is hours away from being done! :-) (Actually, my title might be considered actual content.... wait, no, it isn't :-( )

Today I am trying some new tools with my blog. I am working on getting better picture hosting, and in getting a link to my Atom feed, and getting the subscribe to my blog! working (try it, might be workign now!).

Other than that, my day was, as usual, uniteressting. I went to 2 or 3 stores looking for the old model PS2 (not much success), and read about 90 pages of Of Mice and Men (a 110 page book :-P). Artur also went to a Magic tournament at Dream Wizards, and lost as usual.

Today I am listening to Born Too Slow, by The Crystal Method (I been playing too much Need for Speed Underground lately.... I finished the game yesterday!!!)

Lets see... ah, here is a good quote by Linus Torvalds, the great creator of Linux:
In short, at least give the penguin a fair viewing. If you still don't like it, that's ok: that's why I'm boss. I simply know better than you do.
-- Linus "what, me arrogant?" Torvalds, on c.o.l.advocacy

20041101

Bricked my NSLU2..

Day 4. About 65% done of my torrent. I am trying to switch trackers as I write (thats 2 taken down), and I have hopes to be done by day 7. :-)

Anyway, I managed to brick my NSLU2 today. But thanks for the people at the NSLU2 Linux project, I unbricked it in about 20 min :-) But the stupid NSLU2 is still not seeing my HD.... :-P

Also on the news, me and my brother finished sorting through our Halloween candy (will post pictures soon). We have no official count yet, but it looks like it is on the hundreds!

BTW, if you can vote, or influence someone, don't vote Bush. ANYONE but Bush. Please :-)

Today I am listening to Faroeste Caboclo, by the masters of music Legião Urbana.
